Perceiving migration as an opportunity, the Scalabrini Centre, established in 2002, is committed to alleviating poverty and promoting development in the Western Cape while fostering integration between migrants, refugees and South Africans. In providing our assistance we advocate respect for human rights and use a holistic approach that considers all basic needs. The Centre works with all nationalities and issues and our programmes include:

  • Advocacy Programme
  • Counselling services
  • Employment Access Programme
  • English School
  • Health Clinic
  • Lawrence House Children's Home
  • Welfare Programme

For those asylum seekers and migrants who are at risk of deportation, the Advocacy Programme is now developing a manual for to inform migrants about their rights and how the legal system should operate. The Advocacy Programme also offers basic legal assistance regarding asylum claims, appeals, access to refugee offices and services, and provides referrals to other organisations.
